Adobe Creative Suite Market Share Woes |
Adobe Creative Suite Market Share Drop not Welcomed on Wall Street
With Adobe CS5 certainly not living up to the sales expectations that the graphic arts dealers were hoping for, this article from Wall Street is not encouraging either, but also not entirely surprising:
Adobe's Market Share in Creative Software Declining 09/03/10 "Adobe(ADBE) had around 43% share in the creative software market as of 2009... The company's creative software market share has decreased from 48% in 2005 to 43% in 2009 due to IT budget cuts and reduced advertising budgets that trickle down to negatively impact creative professionals in the marketing industry." Looks like good timing from Quark, who also get's mentioned in the source article above. They have a pretty amazing new software bundle with new or Upgrade purchases to QuarkXPress 8 worth more than $600 in the bundle software alone!
Buy Quark, get ID2Q (InDesign to Quark), MarkzTools and 1,000 professional OpenType fonts for FREE. Link: Quark Magic Bundle

For Adobe and others, it is also a tough marketplace, especially for CS5, when most graphic designers or publishing houses still use CS3 or CS4, if not QuarkXPress, which work quite fine in most production workflows creative workflows. Whatever the case with Adobe, losing market share is not good.
