What Businesses can Learn from Reality Contests

Business Reality!

Millions of people are hooked on reality TV contests these days. From American Idol to The Voice and The X Factor, who has not watched (and voted) these reality contests week after week just to support their favorites. There are winners and losers, fun and drama, but whatever the outcome of the show is everyone gained a lesson or two. In fact, the success of these reality shows can bring lessons to the business industry. There are realities on them that business owners can use to gain consistent success in their business.

What are these realities and lessons?

1- First impression. People who audition on these reality contests have to make the best first impression. They have to impress the judges and be memorable so they can get the ticket to the next round. Only those who were able to make a good first impression get the chance to move on.

In business, a good first impression is also critical. Only businesses who are able to do this and be memorable to people gets the opportunity to make a sale. With the thousands of businesses in the market these days, auditioning in front of your target customers will require you to leave a good and lasting impression. Whether in printing glossy table tents or talking face to face with prospects, you need to focus on giving a good impression. If your first impression is poor, you’ll never get to the second round of the sales process. You’ll get eliminated right then and there and never to be considered by your prospects again.

2- Teamwork. Before the finals, the contestants will go through a series of challenges. Some of which will require them to work with other contestants. Those who will survive these challenges and move to the next round are those who will be able to work well with other people.

The same thing is true in the business industry. In order for your business to succeed and thrive, you need to learn how to work with other people or businesses. After all, running a business is not all about competitive. Your ability to lead people and work with them harmoniously will greatly help you sustain the success of your company.

3- Consistency. When the contestants have survived the qualifying rounds, they have to show the judges and the audience that they can sustain their performance. From the start to the finish, they have to convince people that they deserve to win by giving a consistent performance night after night.

Consistency is also essential in running a business. Just because you have gained the trust of your target audience you can already slow down and provide low quality product or service. From your marketing literatures (website, logo, custom made table tent templates, etc.) to your unique offers, consistency is vital. You need to show people that you are capable of providing them the same, if not better, service all the time.

4- Humility. Attitude is important in winning a reality contest. A humble contestant that has a good personality has higher chance of winning than an overconfident and boastful one.

The business industry also loathes arrogant business owners. Despite the success you are enjoying, you have to remain humble and reachable so your customers and prospects won’t hesitate to stay loyal to you.

The business industry can sure learn a lot of these reality contests. With perseverance and the right attitude, any business can win people’s heart, get their votes, and attain a landslide win.

Always keep in touch with your customers by printing glossy table tents. Update them with your products and services with custom made table tent templates.
